ASSEMBLY SUB-GROUP QUESTIONS OFFICIALS ON POLICING AND JUSTICE ISSUES

The Policing and Justice sub-group today questioned Northern Ireland Office (NIO) officials on a range of important matters relating to the proposals for the devolution of policing and justice. Issues covered included the prevention and detection of crime, national security, treatment of offenders, public order, the Courts and the police and the policing accountability framework.

Sub-group Chairperson, William Hay MLA said: “A useful discussion took place and the further information obtained during the evidence session will assist the sub-group in its deliberations on the crucial issues surrounding the devolution of policing and justice.”
