QUESTIONS FOR WRITTEN ANSWER
The Business Committee has agreed that, with immediate effect, Members will
be allowed to table up to five questions for written answer per day. Questions
for written answer should be tabled in the Business Office before 4.00 p.m. Members
will also note that the revised arrangements for publishing answers will become
effective from this week. A separate edition of Hansard containing only written
answers will be published on Saturday each week. The first edition will be in
Members' pigeonholes on Monday morning. For further information about the procedures
for Assembly Questions (and Answers), Members should contact the Business Office
in Room 32 (Tel: 028 905 21637).
AD HOC GROUP ON MENTAL HEALTH
The Ad Hoc Group on Mental Health is organising a meeting on Wednesday 14 June
at 12.30 pm in the Private Dining Room. The guest speaker at the meeting will
be Professor Genevra Richardson.
At the meeting it is proposed to establish formally an All Party Group on Mental
Health. All Members are invited to attend. This event is sponsored by Mr David
Ford MLA.
DATA PROTECTION ACT
The Assembly Commission is currently identifying the responsibilities of the
Assembly in relation to the Data Protection Act. Members should be aware that
any measures taken by the Assembly in order to conform with the provisions of
this legislation will not extend to constituency offices. Members are therefore
advised to investigate their responsibilities under the Data Protection Act in
relation to these offices.
PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT
In order to take advantage of the discounts available, Members who wish to do
so, can purchase furniture/equipment/stationery through the Assembly. Any purchases
will be charged to the Member's Office Costs Allowance. Availability is restricted
to items contained in the catalogue held by the Assembly's Stationery and Reprographics
Office (contact Bill Clements Room 423; (Tel: 028 905 21218).
DIVISION BELLS
Members are asked to note that the public address announcement stating when
the Speaker will take the Chair, will from Monday 12 June, be preceded by a short
sounding of the Division Bell. This will take place five minutes before the Speaker's
arrival.
RECESS DATES
The Business Committee has agreed that the Assembly will go into recess from
close of business on Friday 7 July until 3 September 2000. Committees of the Assembly
will re-convene from Monday 4 September and the first plenary after recess is
scheduled for 11 September 2000.
