APN 6/00 ALL PARTY NOTICES BUSINESS INSURANCE The purpose of this note is to alert Members to the fact that when using their private cars for travel to the Republic of Ireland (RoI), they may inadvertently be doing so without appropriate insurance cover. A recent case, where an officer contacted his insurance company to confirm that his business use cover extended to the RoI was informed that his policy with that particular company did not extend cover outside the UK. Follow up enquiries with a local insurance broker have confirmed that business cover generally does not extend to the RoI, although some companies may be prepared to cover occasional business use. Members are asked to ensure that when travelling outside the UK on official Assembly business that their insurance company is aware of this and that they are fully covered. When making claims for motor mileage allowance in respect of business travel within the RoI the Assembly Finance Office may request official confirmation that the appropriate cover is in place. DEATH GRATUITY NOMINATION FORMS Despite several requests for Members to complete Death Gratuity nomination forms in respect of the Assembly Members' Pension Scheme, a significant number of Members have not yet returned completed forms to the Personnel Office. It is extremely important that any Member who is contributing to the Pension Scheme should complete a Death Gratuity nomination form immediately Death Gratuity nomination forms are available from the Personnel Office, Room 410, Parliament Buildings or by ring extension 21984. REMEMBRANCE SERVICE - PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS A short Service of Remembrance will be held in the Senate Chamber, Parliament Buildings at 10.45 am on Friday 10 November 2000. Members and staff are welcome to attend. |
