Overnight stays can be arranged in advance through the Travel Desk in the Personnel Office, and it is recommended that the Travel Desk's services be used where possible. (The Travel Desk can of course arrange accommodation throughout these islands and beyond to facilitate Members.) However, it is recognised that, in exceptional circumstances, Members may decide to stay overnight at short notice, after the Travel Desk has closed. The Director of Finance and Personnel has written to the Stormont, Hilton and Europa Hotels with whom the Assembly does most Business, asking them to look favourably on a direct request for a discounted rate from a Member on his/her own behalf or on behalf of a member of their staff. Although there can be no guarantee of a discount - discounts are in the hotel's gift - it is expected that the hotels will generally be receptive to approaches. The Assembly's arrangements with these hotels are informal, but it is hoped to move to a more formal relationship with these and other hotels locally in the New Year. CONSTITUENCY OFFICE STATIONERYArrangements are being made to have stationery supplied directly to Constituency offices. Orders may be placed with Registry using existing order pads, A, B and C: - (a) by post; The suppliers will arrange for orders to be delivered to offices throughout Northern Ireland. They will not normally split boxes of an item so it will be necessary to order e.g. a box of pens rather than one pen or a box of paper rather than one ream. Other items e.g. headed paper, which is bought in bulk, will be delivered to Constituency offices by Parcel Force. Orders should by placed with Registry once a month, by the 10th for delivery during that month. |
