The Committee agreed to hold the meeting in closed session.

The meeting opened at 10.15 a.m. in closed session.

1. Matters arising.

The Committee noted the additional papers.

The Committee agreed to ask research to provide a fuller brief on the Affordability section of the Strand Two Water Report.

The Committee agreed to seek the information identified by Research from the Department.

The Committee agreed to ask the Consumer Council to brief it on the information in the Consumer Council’s papers.

The Committee decided to write to the Department of Regional Development, the Committee for Finance and Personnel, and Northern Ireland Water, seeking clarification on the reduced water costs assumed in the final Budget 2008-11.

2. Committee consideration of the Independent Water Review Panel’s Strand Two Report

Cathal Boylan joined the meeting at 10.20 a.m.
Stephen Moutray joined the meeting at 10.23 a.m.

The Committee agreed a revised draft of the interim response to the Minister on the Strand Two report.

Members agreed to meet at 12.30 p.m. in Private Dining Room to clear the interim response.

3. Date, Time and Place of next meeting

The next meeting will be at 12.30 p.m. on Thursday 24 January 2008 in the Private Dining Room, Parliament Buildings.

The Chairperson adjourned the meeting at 11.27 a.m.
