OFFICIAL REPORT
(Hansard)
Devolution of Policing and Justice Matters
9 June 2009
Members present for all or part of the proceedings:
Mr Jimmy Spratt (Chairperson)
Mr Raymond McCartney (Deputy Chairperson)
Mr Alex Attwood
Mr Simon Hamilton
Mrs Carmel Hanna
Mr Alex Maskey
Mr Alan McFarland
Mr John O’Dowd
The Chairperson (Mr Spratt)
Moving to the devolution of policing and justice matters, I declare an interest as a member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board. Do any other members wish to declare any interests?
Mr A Maskey:
I am also a member of the Policing Board.
The Chairperson:
A number of issues in the category 2 list remain to be clarified. Therefore, before I go through them one by one, I will ask the parties to indicate whether there are any changes from their previous positions.
Mr Hamilton:
No.
Mr A Maskey:
No change.
Mr McFarland:
No.
Mr Attwood:
No.
The Chairperson:
Given that there is no change, I do not propose to go through the issues for the sake of having a discussion. We discussed issue K, but members will be happy to learn that that was not recorded for the Hansard report.
However, I stress that we need to return to the category 2 issues in the not too distant future, once the Committee has visited other legislatures.
