PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE SCRUTINISES NORTH/SOUTH BODIES

The Public Accounts will be taking evidence from two of the North/South Bodies today. The evidence session will concentrate on InterTradeIreland and the Special EU Programmes Body. It will be held in public in the Conference Room of InterTradeIreland.

PAC Chairperson, Mr Paul Maskey MLA said, “This is the first occasion on which this Committee has taken evidence on any of the North/South Bodies. We are also very pleased that the Dáil Committee of Public Accounts has scheduled a hearing on two further North/South Bodies in April.

“Both committees are committed to ensuring that monies spent by the North/South Bodies are properly accounted for and provide the public with effective, efficient and value for money activities.”

  1. The meeting will be held in public at 2.00pm in the Conference Room, InterTradeIreland, Old Gasworks Business Park, Kilmorey Street, Newry.
  2. The relevant NIAO report is Section 7 of ‘Financial Auditing and Reporting: 2006-07’ NIA 193/07-08 2 July 2008.
  3. Standing Orders under Section 60(3) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 have provided for the establishment of the Public Accounts Committee (the Committee). The main statutory function of the Committee is to consider accounts and the reports by the Comptroller and Auditor General for Northern Ireland (C&AG) laid before the Northern Ireland Assembly.
