2.1 Statement - North-South Ministerial Council Health and Food Safety Sectoral Format Meeting

The Minister of Health, Social Services and Public Safety, Mr Michael McGimpsey, made a statement to the Assembly regarding the North-South Ministerial Council Health and Food Safety sectoral format meeting, held on 10 June 2009, following which he replied to questions.

2.2 Second Stage - Department of Justice Bill (NIA 1/09)

The First Minister, Rt Hon Peter Robinson, moved that the Second Stage of the Department of Justice Bill (NIA 1/09) be agreed.

The Minister of Finance and Personnel, Mr Sammy Wilson, moved that the Second Stage of the Rates (Amendment) Bill (NIA 2/09) be agreed.

6. Private Members’ Business

6.1 Motion - Civil Service Equal Pay Claim

Proposed:That this Assembly notes with concern that the Civil Service Equal Pay claim remains unresolved despite the Assembly resolution of 1 June 2009 calling on the Minister of Finance and Personnel to ensure that the staff affected receive their back pay within three months; welcomes the assurance by the Minister that the financial implications of a resolution to this matter will have to be faced in a manner compatible with the Department's legal obligations; and calls on the Minister to state an early date by which a comprehensive settlement offer will be made to the Trade Union representing the staff concerned.
