The Assembly met at noon, the Speaker in the Chair
1. Personal Prayer or Meditation
Members observed two minutes’ silence.
2. Speaker’s Business
2.1 The Speaker informed Members that he had received a letter from Mr David Burnside resigning as a Member of the Assembly with effect from Monday 1 June. The Speaker advised that he would notify the Chief Electoral Officer that a vacancy now exists, in accordance with section 35 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
3. Executive Committee Business
3.1 Consideration Stage - Diseases of Animals Bill (NIA 22/07)
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms Michelle Gildernew, did not move the Consideration Stage.
3.2 Motion - Child Support and Social Security (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations (NI) 2009
Proposed: That the Child Support and Social Security (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations ( Northern Ireland) 2009 be approved.

Debate ensued.
The Question being put, the Motion was carried without division.
4. Private Members’ Business
4.1 Motion - Equal Pay Issue
Proposed: That this Assembly expresses its concern at the ongoing delay in settling the Civil Service equal pay claim; recognises that the staff affected were deprived of their proper remuneration over a period of years; and calls on the Minister of Finance and Personnel to ensure that all current and former Civil Service staff affected receive their back-pay within three months.

4.2 Amendment
Proposed: Leave out all after the first ‘affected’ and insert :
‘may have been deprived of their proper remuneration over a period of years; welcomes the commitment of the Minister of Finance and Personnel to resolving the issue and calls on him to ensure that all current and former Civil Service staff affected receive their back-pay within three months or as soon as possible.’

The Amendment was, by leave, withdrawn.
