2. Speaker’s Business
2.1 The Speaker informed Members of the appointment of Mr Trevor Reaney as the new Clerk/Director General and that Mr Reaney would take up the post by 1 September 2008.
3. Executive Committee Business
3.1 First Stage - Child Maintenance Bill (NIA 17/07)
The Minister for Social Development, Ms Margaret Ritchie, introduced a Bill to amend the law relating to child support; and for connected purposes.
Bill passed First Stage and ordered to be printed (NIA Bill 17/07).
4. Committee Business
4.1 Motion - Report of the Ad Hoc Committee on Local Postal Services
Proposed: That this Assembly expresses its concern and deep disappointment at the planned closure of, and service changes to, certain local Post Offices; approves the report of the Ad Hoc Committee set up to consider, and make proposals for, partnerships that could enhance the economic case for viable local postal services; and agrees that it should be submitted to the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform as a report of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Proposed: That this Assembly calls on the Minister for Social Development to investigate the establishment of a not-for-profit mortgage rescue scheme for Northern Ireland, in line with other parts of the United Kingdom.
