2.1 First Stage - Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Bill (NIA 15/07)

The Minister of the Environment, Mrs Arlene Foster, introduced a Bill to make provision concerning the licensing of operators of certain goods vehicles.

Bill passed First Stage and ordered to be printed (NIA Bill 15/07).

2.2 Further Consideration Stage - Commission for Victims and Survivors Bill (NIA 12/07)

The j unior Minister, Mr Gerry Kelly, moved that the Further Consideration Stage of the Commission for Victims and Survivors Bill be agreed.

Two amendments were tabled to the Bill.

After debate Amendment 1 to Schedule 1 was negatived (Division No. 1).
After debate Amendment 2 to Schedule 1 was negatived without division.

NIA Bill 12/07 passed Further Consideration Stage and stood referred to the Speaker for consideration in accordance with section 10 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.

2.3 Final Stage - Local Government (Boundaries) Bill (NIA 14/07)

The Minister of the Environment, Mrs Arlene Foster, moved that the Final Stage of the Local Government (Boundaries) Bill (NIA 14/07) be agreed.

4.1 Motion - Education and the Economy

Proposed: That this Assembly notes the growing needs for our indigenous economy, with particular reference to the engineering sector, and calls on the Minister of Education to bring forward proposals, complementary to the Department for Employment and Learning strategy ‘Further Education Means Business’ and the Programme for Government objective under PSA 2 to “increase skills and career choices in science, technology, engineering and maths (stem) subjects”, geared towards our primary and post-primary school children that will address the future needs of our economy.
