Brief outline of public/ political career:	Elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly for the Foyle Constituency in 2003. SDLP spokesperson on Culture, Arts and Leisure Served on Derry City Council for 14 years. Mayor of Derry 1999 - 2000. Leader of the SDLP Group of Councillors on Derry City Council. Served as Chair of the Derry Investment Initiative and Visitor and Convention Bureau. Represented the city on inward investment trips to Washington, Massachusetts and Arizona during term as Mayor.
Other memberships/ interests/ achievements/awards:	Involved in community work for 20 years. Member of the Shared City and District Initiative. Established the Pride in Our City Campaign. Introduced the Junior Mayor idea and initiated the setting up of a Shadow Youth Council. Background in youth work. Particular interests are social justice, the environment, economic rejuvenation and educational development.
