TO

Rename the Department of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment as the Department for Learning and Employment.

BE IT ENACTED by being passed by the Northern Ireland Assembly and assented to by Her Majesty as follows:

Renaming of Department of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment

1.— (1) The Department of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment shall be renamed the Department for Learning and Employment.

(2) Accordingly, in any statutory provision or other document passed, made or issued before the coming into operation of this Act—

(a) for any reference to, or which is to be construed as a reference to, the Department of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment there shall be substituted a reference to the Department for Learning and Employment; and

(b) for any reference to, or which is to be construed as a reference to, the Minister of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment there shall be substituted a reference to the Minister for Learning and Employment.

(3) This Act may be cited as the Department for Learning and Employment Act (Northern Ireland) 2001.
