The Chairman declared the meeting open at 2.40 p.m. The meeting began in open session
1. Apologies
1.1. None
2. Minutes of Proceedings
2.1. Resolved: The Committee agreed the Minutes of Proceedings for 21 June 2001.
3. Minutes of Evidence
3.1. The Committee agreed the Minutes of Evidence made in relation to the Committee's Inquiry into the use of Public Private Partnerships on 17 May 2001 by the European Investment Bank.
4. Matters arising
4.1.1. The Committee noted the Report of 19 June 2001 by the Examiner of Statutory Rules.
5. Deprivation Indicators
5.1. The Committee received briefing from and questioned Departmental official, Mr Edgar Jardine, accompanied by Dr Deborah Brown on the progress of the Review of Deprivation Indicators.
5.2. The Minister of Finance and Personnel outlined for the Committee how the Deprivation Indicators would influence Departmental spending under New TSN and Peace II funding.
6. Department of Finance and Personnel 2002/03 Bids: The Executive's Position Report
6.1. The Minister of Finance and Personnel accompanied by Departmental officials, Mr Michael Daly and Mr Colin Mc Gaffin briefed the Committee and answered Members' questions regarding the bids made by DFP which were included in the Executive's Position Report.
6.2. The Minister also advised the Committee of "marker" bids lodged for the next round of Executive Programme Fund bids.
Mr Dodds attended the meeting at 3.40 p.m, Ms Lewsley attended at 3.40 p.m and Mr Hussey attended at 3.46 p.m.
7. Single Equality Bill
7.1. The Committee was briefed by the Clerk regarding questions to be considered for its response to the Committee of the Centre.
Mr Dodds left the meeting at 4.03 p.m
7.2. The Committee deliberated.
7.3. The Committee agreed its response to Questions 24, 29, 33 and 44 of the questionnaire and drew attention to potential gaps in the consultation document.
Ms Lewsley left the meeting at 4.50 p.m. The meeting went into closed session.
8. Public Private Partnerships Inquiry
8.1. The Committee considered a motion to the Assembly:
8.2. Resolved: The Committee agreed the motion "That the Assembly takes note of the Report prepared by the Committee for Finance and Personnel following its Inquiry into the use of Public Private Partnerships".
8.3. The Committee considered the draft report.
8.4. The Committee deliberated.
8.5. Resolved: The Committee agreed its report into the use of Public Private Partnerships.
8.6. Resolved: The Committee ordered the draft report to be printed.
9. Date of next meeting
9.1. The Committee agreed the next meeting as Tuesday 3 July 2001.
The Chairman declared the meeting closed at 5.10p.m.
