I refer to your recent request for further information relating to bonus payments paid to Permanent Secretaries in the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS). The Committee has requested information on the number of Permanent Secretaries who received a bonus payment at each level available for the period 2004 -2008. This information is provided at Annex A, attached.
You should note that in my response of 2 March 2009, which set out bonus levels available as part of the 2008 Permanent Secretary pay award, one level of bonus was inadvertently omitted. This has now been corrected in the information provided in Annex A.

These figures include any bonuses awarded to the Head of the Civil Service and in 2007 and 2008 also include any bonus awards made to the Head of Government Legal Services.
