Top1. Chairperson's business
The Chairperson explained the rules to members for meetings in the Senate Chamber.
Top2. Apologies
Apologies were received from Mr Doherty, Mr Clyde, and Mr Duncan Shipley Dalton.
Top3. Matters arising
Harland and Wolff - the Committee welcomed the recent arbitration decision to award the Shipyard approximately 22m in its dispute with Global Marine. It was agreed that a press release was not required at this stage.
Visit to Nortel - the Committee agreed to visit Nortel on Wednesday 8 November (pm).
Weights and Measures (Amendment) Bill - the Chairperson advised members that any proposed amendments to the Bill should be submitted to the Committee Clerk by Friday 22 September. The Chairperson also advised that a further question had been sent to Trading Standards Service about the proposed Bill.
Top4. Strategy 2010 Inquiry
A revised programme of public evidence sessions was issued to members. A list of those organisations who did not respond to the Committee's invitation to give oral evidence was also issued.
Ms Lewsley joined the meeting at 3.00pm
The Chairperson reported that Moyle District Council had invited the Committee to lunch and a tour of the harbour, marina and Moyle Enterprise Centre after the public evidence session on 27 September. Agreed - that the invitation to lunch and a tour only of the harbour and marina should be accepted.

Dr Haren, Mr Smyth, and Mr Stringer gave evidence, in public, to the Committee on its inquiry into Strategy 2010 and answered a number of questions put by the Committee.

Sir George Quigley gave evidence, in public, to the Committee on its inquiry into Strategy 2010 and answered a number of questions put by the Committee.
Top7. Any other business
The Committee Clerk stated that the Welsh Office had been enquiring if any members were attending the launch of the small firms charter in Surrey Country Club on 17 October. Members advised that they had not received any invitation to this event.

The next meeting of the Committee will be held on Wednesday 20 September at 10.00am in Room 144.
