Monthly income of Basement Restaurant.20 September 2007The response to your questions is as follows: Question 1The average monthly income of the canteen at Stormont in the last 12 months (broken down by month). The average cost of subsidising the canteen. AnswerAttached is a table setting out the Catering Operating Costs. You may wish to note that the figures quoted represent the total cost of operating catering services within the Assembly. In addition to the basement restaurant this includes a number of other catering outlets and e.g. the provision of refreshments for meetings. During the period in question the Assembly did not operate a full cost centre based accounting system and it is not possible to provide accurate figures by individual catering outlet. Question 2Is the canteen open to members of the public? If not, who can eat in the canteen – staff only or staff and visitors? AnswerThe Basement Restaurant is open to members of the public if they are escorted by a person who is in possession of a full photo-identity Assembly Pass. In addition to the many visitors who use the restaurant facilities in Parliament Buildings the Basement Restaurant is used by Secretariat staff, MLAs and other occupants of the building.
