BACKGROUND
In January 2008 CAL, as part of its Inquiry into the need for a museum policy in Northern Ireland, recommended that the museum policy should address the need for sporting history to be covered in museums provision.
The Ulster Sports Museum Association is a not for profit body and has given evidence to CAL on the importance of highlighting sporting history. Its management committee includes nominees of the GAA, IFA and the Ulster Branch of the IRFU.
The Association is working to create a permanent sports museumthat will celebrate Ulster’s greatest sports men and women and help to inspire future sporting greats.
