The meeting opened in public session at 4.19 p.m.

2. Minister’s update on Digital Britain Report

The Committee noted a response from DCMS regarding the decision not to include Northern Ireland in the local news pilot.

The Minister and Anne Tohill (Head of Arts) joined the meeting.

The Minister updated the Committee on his position regarding the Digital Britain Report. This was followed by a question and answer session.

4.35 p.m. Mr McCarthy joined the meeting.

Agreed: The Committee agreed to discuss any actions at its next meeting on 17 September 2009.

3. Any other business

Agreed : The Committee agreed to write a letter of thanks to Mr Shannon who has now left the Committee.

The Chairperson advised the Committee that there would an informal meeting with UTV at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday 16 September 2009 (room 144) and invited other members to attend.

The Chairperson advised the Committee that there would an informal meeting with Trevor Birney, an independent television producer at 4.30 p.m. on Wednesday 16 September 2009 (room 21) and invited other members to attend.

4. Date and Time of Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Committee for Culture, Arts and Leisure will be on Thursday 17 September 2009 at 10.30 a.m. in Room 152, Parliament Buildings.

The Chairperson adjourned the meeting at 4.43 p.m.
