Well, now’s your chance as the doors of Parliament Buildings and Stormont Castle will be thrown open to the public on 12 and 13 September as part of the 2009 European Heritage Open Days. This is an ideal opportunity to stroll through the majestic gardens of Stormont Estate, have lunch in the Long Gallery of Parliament Buildings and browse the range of locally sourced goods at the Assembly gift shop in Parliament Buildings. Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, William Hay, MLA said: “I am delighted that so many people visit Parliament Buildings throughout the year, attending events, meeting MLAs and watching the Assembly do its work. These Open Days are a wonderful opportunity for even more people to come and see the beauty and grandeur of the home of their Assembly, and I hope that many will take advantage of them." Free tours of Parliament Buildings and Stormont Castle are available on 12 and 13 September. Doors open at 10am with final tours starting at 3pm. Lunch is available in the Long Gallery, Parliament Buildings at 1pm and 2pm. Pre-booking is advised. Call 028 9052 1041.Tea and coffee will also be available. Vehicular entry to the Stormont Estate is via the Massey Avenue gate only. Visitors with mobility problems or any other special requirements should contact 028 9052 1172.
