INQUIRY INTO THE DEVOLUTION OF POLICING AND JUSTICE
COMMITTEE BRIEFED BY THE HEAD OF THE CIVIL SERVICE, SIR NIGEL HAMILTON
The Assembly and Executive Review Committee met today to hear from the Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service, Sir Nigel Hamilton, on the administrative preparations which are taking place within government departments in anticipation of the devolution of policing and justice.
The Committee also continued its discussions on the structure and accountability arrangements for the organisations within any new department of policing and justice.
Speaking after the meeting, the Rt. Hon. Jeffrey Donaldson, MP, Chairperson of the Committee, said:
“The Committee agreed a further series of meetings to enable it to comply with the 29 February deadline for submitting a report to the Assembly on the preparations which the Assembly has made, and needs to make, to enable the devolution of policing and justice”.
