The Committee agreed the Minutes of the meeting of 26 May 2009.

5. Presentation – DARD – Rural Champion

Keith Morrison, Zita Murphy and Roy Griffin, departmental officials, joined the meeting at 1.45pm and made a presentation regarding the Rural Champion scheme. Following the presentation, Members put questions.

6. Presentation – DARD – June Monitoring

John Smith, departmental official, joined the meeting at 2.28pm and presented to Committee in respect of the June Monitoring Round. Following the presentation, Members put questions.

7. Presentation – DARD – SL1 – Foyle Area and Carlingford Area (Conservation of Eels) Regulations 2009 & SL1 – Foyle Area and Carlingford Area (Angling) (Amendment) Regulations 2009

Paul Moore, DARD and John McCartney, Loughs Agency, joined the meeting at 2.54pm and presented to the Committee in respect of the proposed SL1s. Following the presentation, Members put questions. It was agreed that both pieces of above legislation should move on to the next stage.

8. Presentation – DARD – The Horses (Zootechnical Standards) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2009

Seamus Hughes and Jonathan McAdams, departmental officials, joined the meeting at 3.07pm and presented to the Committee in respect of the proposed regulations. Following the presentation, Members put questions. Members agreed to defer the matter until the next meeting to allow for input from industry representatives.

9. Pre-consultation – Loughs Agency Regulations

The Committee agreed that officials should present to Committee when a detailed analysis of responses has been undertaken.

10. SL1 – Products of Animal Origin (Third Country Imports) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009

The Committee noted the above mentioned legislation should proceed to the next stage.

11. Future Presentations

The Committee Clerk briefed Members on the future business of the Committee. It was agreed to proceed as proposed.

12. AOB

The Committee noted the upcoming visit to Moypark, Dungannon on Thursday 11 June 2009.

13. Date of the next meeting

The next Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday 16 June 2009 at 1.30pm in Room 21, Parliament Buildings.
