CHRISTMAS LIGHTS TURNED ON IN PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS
The Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly is to hold his Annual Christmas Reception on Tuesday evening and has invited over 300 representatives from a variety of cross community groups from across Northern Ireland.
Speaking about the Reception, Mr William Hay MLA said, “Christmas is a time of peace and coming together. In that spirit I feel it is important to acknowledge the work that is being done by so many people to build bridges between sections of our community.
“I am aware that by its very nature, much of that work takes place behind the scenes, and those involved do not seek recognition or reward. What matters to them is that their work makes a difference to their communities, and to the wider community of Northern Ireland. I believe strongly that it does.”
During the evening the lights on the Parliament Buildings Christmas trees will be switched on and the Speaker’s guests will be entertained by performances from The Ashley Fulton Singers and The Anderson Sisters.
