General Questions in relation to Parliament Buildings

How many toilets do you have in Parliament Buildings?

There are 91 toilets within Parliament Buildings, located over 6 floors.

What capacity are the cisterns and if they’re on automatic flushes how often do they flush?

A typical toilet pan cistern, similar to those in Parliament Buildings, would have a capacity of between 9 and 13 litres. Water saving devices for the toilets has been installed in a few cisterns on the Basement and Ground floors as a trial, to ensure that they are compatible, before this is rolled out to the rest of the building.

Typical urinal cisterns have a 7.5 Litre capacity, and there are wat er saving flush systems fitted in the following male toilets,

1) 4th floor east 1 set

2) 3rd floor east and west

3) 2nd floor east and west

4) 1st floor east and west

5) Ground floor 3 sets

6) Basement 2 sets

The flushes have motion sensors and detect when the urinal has been used and after a period of 15 minutes it flushes. This ensures that at night time the units are not activated.
