The Assembly met at 10.30 am, the Speaker in the Chair

1. Personal Prayer or Meditation

Members observed two minutes’ silence.

2. The Speaker’s Business

The Speaker advised Members that the Secretary of State had directed that the Assembly should sit on Tuesday, 26 September 2006 at 10.30 am to consider business as it appears on the Order Paper.

2.2

The Sitting was, by leave, suspended at 10.33 am as a mark of respect to the late Mr Michael Ferguson.

The Sitting resumed at 11.00 am.

3. The Speaker’s Business (Cont'd)

3.1 The Speaker provided clarification on the conventions on references to members of other elected chambers and on references to officials.

4. Secretary of State Motion

4.1 Proposed: That the Assembly notes the work of the Committee on the Preparation for Government and the report on Rights; Safeguards; Equality Issues and Victims.

Debate ensued.

The Sitting was, by leave, suspended at 12.56 pm.

The Sitting resumed at 2.00 pm.

After debate, the Question being put, the Motion was carried without division.

5. Adjournment

5.1 Proposed: That the Assembly do now adjourn.
