No. 03/06MINUTE OF PROCEEDINGS MONDAY 22 MAY 2006 The Assembly met at 2.00 pm, the Speaker in the Chair 1. Personal Prayer or Meditation Members observed two minutes’ silence. 2. The Speaker’s Business 2.1 The Speaker advised Members that the Secretary of State had directed that the Assembly should sit on Monday 22 May 2006 at 2.00pm to consider business as it appears on the Order Paper. 3. The election of persons to hold the offices of First Minister and deputy First Minister on restoration of devolved government, in accordance with Standing Order 15 3.1 Proposals for persons to hold the offices of First Minister and deputy First Minister on restoration of devolved government were sought.
The Rev Dr Ian Paisley declined to accept the nomination. In accordance with Standing Order 15(d) which requires both candidates to accept the nomination, the Speaker ruled that the proposal was invalid, and, therefore, fell. There were no further proposals. 4. Adjournment 4.1 Proposed: That the Assembly do now adjourn. [The Speaker] The Assembly adjourned at 2.15 pm.
