The Assembly met at 10.30 am, the Speaker in the Chair

1. The Speaker’s Business

1.1 The Speaker announced that the Secretary of State had directed that the Assembly should sit on Monday 15 May 2006 at 10.30 am to consider business as it appears on the Order Paper.

1.2 The following letters, received from the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland were
read:

• Dated 9 May 2006 – Appointment of Presiding Officer
• Dated 11 May 2006 – Appointment of Deputy Presiding Officers
• Dated 12 May 2006 – Letter of intent

1.3 At the invitation of the Speaker, Members stood in silent reflection for one minute on the death of Michael McIlveen.

2. Roll of Membership

2.1 The Speaker signed the Roll and indicated a designation of identity as ‘Other’, after which she made a personal statement on her appointment.
