 The Assembly met at noon, the Speaker in the Chair

1. Personal Prayer or Meditation

Members observed two minutes’ silence.

2. Matters of the Day - Death of Robert Dunlop

2.1 Mr Ian Paisley Junior made a statement, under Standing Order 23A, in relation to the death of Mr Robert Dunlop on Thursday 15 May 2008. A number of other Members were called to speak on the matter.

3. Executive Committee Business
3.1 Further Consideration Stage - Libraries Bill (NIA 5/07)

The Minister of Culture, Arts and Leisure, Mr Edwin Poots, moved that the Further Consideration Stage of the LibrariesBill be agreed.

No Amendments were tabled.

NIA Bill 5/07 passed Further Consideration Stage and stood referred to the Speaker for consideration in accordance with section 10 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.

4. Committee Business
4.1 Motion - Prevention of Suicide and Self Harm

Proposed: That this Assembly approves the Report of the Committee for Health, Social Services and Public Safety (27/07/08R) on its Inquiry into the Prevention of Suicide and Self Harm; and calls on the Executive to bring forward, before the summer recess, a timeframe for implementing the recommendations in the report.

The Question being put, the Motion was carried without division.

The sitting was suspended at 2.16 pm.
