Subject: Legislative Consent Motion – Terrorist Asset-Freezing etc Bill
1. The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment has tabled the following Legislative Consent Motion for debate in the Assembly on Monday 11 October 2010:
That this Assembly agrees that the provision in the Terrorist Asset-Freezing etc Bill dealing with Northern Ireland credit unions, which is contained in clause 45 of the Bill as introduced in the House of Lords, should be considered by the UK Parliament.
2. The Committee agreed to prepare a short report and send it to all MLAs in advance of the debate. This can be found at http://archive.niassembly.gov.uk/enterprise/2007mandate/reports/2010/legislation_consent_motion.htm and includes a summary of the Committee’s consideration of the motion and the implications for the credit union movement in Northern Ireland.
