The meeting opened at 11.09 am in public session.

Members agreed the Minutes of Proceedings of the meeting held on 14 September 2010.

5. Correspondence

Outgoing Correspondence

5.1 Members noted a letter to Nigel Dodds, thanking him for his valuable contribution to the work of the Committee and wishing him well in the future.

5.2 Members noted a letter to the Speaker thanking him for his letter of 7 September 2010 in relation to his meeting with the Secretary of State on the issue of electoral reform.

5.3 Members noted a letter to Linda Gregg, Assistant Assembly Clerk to the Committee, thanking her for her contribution over the years to the Assembly and wishing her well in her retirement.

Tabled Items

Members noted two tabled items, one from the Chairperson’s Liason Group and one from the Junior Ministers regarding the Forward Work Programme.

6. Presentation of Research Papers (Forward Work Programme)

11.15 am Simon Hamilton joined the meeting.

The Committee considered 4 research papers prepared by Assembly Research and Library Services on:

• The size of the Assembly and the number of government departments
• Voting and Community Designation
• Multiple Mandates
• Coalition government and the power of Ministers and the Executive

11.18 am Alex Maskey joined the meeting.
11.19 am John O’Dowd left the meeting.
11.22 am John O’Dowd rejoined the meeting.

The research papers had been requested by the Committee to aid them with their party submissions in relation to the Forward Work Programme.

Agreed: Members agreed to be return their party submissions to the Committee Clerk by 7 th October 2010.

7. Any other Business

Members noted that their attendance at meetings of the Assembly and Executive Review Committee will be published tomorrow, 29 September 2010, on the Committee web page.

8. Date, time and place of next meeting

The next meeting of the Committee will take place in Room 21 on 12 October 2010 at 11.00 am.

The Chairperson adjourned the meeting at 11.30 am.
