02 MARCH 2010APN 43– 09/10ALL PARTY NOTICESDocumentary Series on the work of the AssemblyThe BBC has commissioned an independent film-maker, Doubleband Films, to produce a documentary-style series on the work of the Assembly. The series aims to extend people’s view of Members beyond the confines of news coverage and chart the work of those behind the scenes who ensure business at the Assembly runs smoothly. It will give viewers an insight into the inner workings of the Assembly, from plenary and committee business to the hosting of events. It will look at Members, what motivates them and how they balance demanding work loads and hectic diaries with normal family life. Filming is due to start in early March and will continue through to the start of summer recess. Doubleband has requested access to MLAs from across the political and geographic spectrum, as well as to the Speaker and to Secretariat staff. The specifics of this access will become clearer following detailed planning for the series. However Committee Chairs, MLAs and staff will have to agree to participate before being filmed in situations that are not already in the public domain. The series will be a genuine and unique opportunity to highlight the tremendous work undertaken by the Assembly and Executive. More information will be available in due course, but in the meantime the Assembly’s Director of Engagement (Gareth McGrath) can provide additional information or clarification if required.
