9 NOVEMBER 2009APN 13– 09/10ALL PARTY NOTICESBBC Democracy LiveLast week, the BBC launched the Democracy Live website which offers live and on-demand video coverage of the UK's national political institutions and the European Parliament. What does this mean for the Northern Ireland Assembly?Democracy Live will broadcast Plenary debates and any public sessions of Committee Meetings which are held in the Senate Chamber and in Room 30. This is similar to the service currently offered on the internal channel 30 and on the live stream of the Assembly website. As well as live broadcasting, Democracy Live allows the user to watch certain Committee meetings on demand. The service also breaks the Plenary down into separate debates. Question time, which is already available on demand at archive.niassembly.gov.uk, is also available on Democracy Live. This innovative service will allow many more people to find out about and understand the work of the Assembly. It is part of a wider project to view the work of the House of Commons, House of Lords, Scottish Assembly, Welsh Assembly and the European Parliament. To find out which Assembly broadcasts are available online please visit: http://archive.niassembly.gov.uk/catchup.htm or http://news.bbc.co.uk/democracylive/hi/northern_ireland/default.stm |
