ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS TO THE ASSEMBLY CHAMBER

Over the past few weeks a number of Members have taken visitors into the Chamber over the lunch time period on sitting days, despite being advised to the contrary by the doorkeepers. Members are reminded that on sitting days, access to the Assembly Chamber is restricted to Members and relevant officials only.

These security arrangements exist to ensure the safety of all Assembly Members, and are operated by the Assembly Doorkeepers on the Speaker’s authority.

Summer 2009:	4 July 2009 to 6 September 2009 (Business Committee – 8 September 2009) (First Plenary Sitting – 14 September 2009)
Halloween 2009:	24 October 2009 to 1 November 2009 (Plenary Sitting – 2 November 2009)
Christmas 2009:	12 December 2009 to 3 January 2010 (Business Committee – 5 January 2010) (First Plenary Sitting – 11 January 2010)
Easter 2010:	27 March 2010 to 11 April 2010 (Easter Sunday – 4 April 2010) (Plenary Sitting – 12 April 2010)
Summer 2010:	To commence 3 July 2010

COMMONWEALTH DAY 2009

“The Commonwealth @ 60 – serving a new generation”

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Northern Ireland Assembly Branch is holding an event in Parliament Buildings to celebrate Commonwealth Day, on Monday 9 March 2009.

The Speaker, as President of CPA NI Branch, will host a reception in the Long Gallery at 5.00 pm. Invited guests will include overseas students from Commonwealth countries who are studying at local universities, Commonwealth Community Groups, other community based organisations, Honorary Consuls from Commonwealth countries and Executive Ministers. Light refreshments will be provided.

All MLAs are invited to attend. However, for logistical purposes please contact Judith Murdoch ( % 21195) if you are interested in attending.
