The following Departmental Officials joined the meeting:

The witnesses presented to Committee in respect of the above.

5. Presentation - DARD: Reservoir Safety Regulations

The following Departmental Officials joined the meeting:

- David Porter Grade 6, Director of Development, Rivers Agency

- Stuart Wightman Grade 7 - Principal Officer, DRD Water Policy Division

The witnesses presented to Committee in respect of the above.

Following the presentation, Members put questions.

Agreed: The Committee agreed to ask the Department to provide it with a list of locations of the reservoirs and has offered its support in bringing legislation to the Northern Ireland Assembly

6. Pre-Consultation: The Marketing of Potatoes (Amendment) Regulations (NI) 2011

Agreed: The Committee agreed that it was content that this matter should move to consultation stage, provided that the Department returns with a detailed analysis of consultation responses.

7. Pre-Consultations: The Aujeszky’s Disease Scheme Order (NI) 2011, The Aujeszky’s Disease Order (NI) 2011, Pigs (Records, Identification and Movement) Order (NI)

Agreed: The Committee agreed that it was content that this matter should move to consultation stage, provided that the Department returns with a detailed analysis of consultation responses.

8. SR 2010/380 The Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010

Agreed: The Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development has considered the Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 and has no objection to the rule.

9. SR 2010/384 Plant Health (Import Inspection Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010

Agreed: The Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development has considered the Plant Health (Import Inspection Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 and has no objection to the rule.

10. Presentation – NI Assembly Research: Rural Development Issues

The following witness joined the meeting:

Following the presentation, Members put questions.

Agreed: The Committee agreed that researchers specialising in health, education, housing and wider rural economy will be invited to present on rural issues to the Committee.

Agreed: The Committee agreed that the Clerk will forward the research paper to all statutory committees.

Agreed: Members agreed that the Foyle Area & Carlingford Area (Angling) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 should progress to the next legislative stage.

13. Hunting Bill: Committee Discussion

Agreed: Members agreed that the Chairperson and the Clerk would meet with the Chairperson and the Clerk to the Committee of the Environment to consult which Committee may take this bill in Committee stage.

14. Budget 2011 - 2015 : Committee Discussion

Agreed: The committee agreed to engage with stakeholders to facilitate its scrutiny of the spending review and budget.
