STATEMENT FROM THE SPEAKER, MR WILLIAM HAY MLA
I have been informed by the First and Deputy First Minster that they have received notification from Margaret Ritchie MP MLA, of her intention to resign as Minister for Social Development with effect from 24 May 2010.
In her capacity as Nominating Officer for the Social Democratic and Labour Party Margaret Ritchie MP MLA has nominated Mr Alex Attwood MLA to the post Minister for Social Development.
Mr Attwood has accepted the nomination and has taken and signed the Pledge of Office witnessed by myself as Speaker and Mr Trevor Reaney, Clerk/Director General to the Northern Ireland Assembly. The appointment takes effect immediately.
