ASSEMBLY COMMITTEES VISIT STREETS AHEAD PROJECT

Two Northern Ireland Assembly Committees will come together to visit the Streets Ahead project in Belfast City Centre 1.00pm-2.15pm on Thursday 20 May.

The Social Development Committee and the Regional Development Committee will visit Lesley House where they will receive a presentation from representatives of the Department of Social Development from 1.00pm-1.30pm on the Streets Ahead project.

Following the presentation Members will leave Lesley House ( Wellington Place) and walk along Queen Street to Castle Street to view completed works to footpaths/road surfacing and the reStore project on Castle Street. The group will then walk to Arthur Square via Castle Place and Cornmarket to view ongoing works and completed works before returning to Lesley House via Fountain Street.

BACKGROUND

Streets Ahead is a four year Department of Social Development project to improve access and landscaping to public areas in Belfast City Centre in order to encourage investment, tourism and business development.

MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES

There will be opportunities for photographs with the Committee members during their visit. Interviews will also be available with Social Development Committee Chair, Simon Hamilton MLA and a member of the Regional Development Committee. Please contact the Communications Office to schedule.
