For the first time in the Assembly’s history, primary school children will give evidence to an Assembly Committee.

Pupils from St Mary’s in Draperstown are coming to Parliament Buildings today to talk to the Committee for Culture, Arts and Leisure.

Three pupils, from P4 through to P7, will brief the Committee on the importance of their local library which is under threat of closure. After talking to the Committee they will hand over a petition showing the strength of support for the library in Draperstown.

The Committee has previously been briefed by Libraries NI on their strategy to review the provision of library services throughout Northern Ireland.
