MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON FRIDAY, 4 MAY 2001
IN THE SENATE CHAMBER, PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS

The meeting commenced in closed session at 10.33am.

1. Titanic Quarter leases.

The Committee discussed the format of the evidence session with officials from the Department.

Mr Wells joined the meeting at 10.44am.

At 10.50 am officials from the Department joined the meeting. They were:

Mr Robin McMinnis     Director, Air and Seaports Division

Mrs Barbara Faloona   Air and Seaports Division.

The Chairman declared the meeting to be in public session.

The officials gave details of the Department's knowledge of the Titanic Quarter leases and the development plan agreed between the Belfast Harbour Commissioners and Harland and Wolff with regards to the Titanic Quarter and replied to Members' questions on the matter.

Mr Wells left the meeting at 11.30am.
Mr Ervine left the meeting at 11.33am.
Mr Bradley joined the meeting at 12.19pm.
Mr Wells returned at 12.30pm.

The evidence session ended at 12.50pm and the meeting adjourned.

The meeting resumed at 2.00pm. The Committee met in private session and discussed the structure of the evidence session to be held with Belfast Harbour Commissioners.

Representatives of Belfast Harbour Commissioners (BHC) joined the meeting at 2.14pm. They were:

Mr Frank Cushnahan    Chairman

Mr Gordon Irwin         Chief Executive

Mr Richard McMaster    Harbour Estate Manager.

The Chairman declared the meeting to be in public session.

Mr Hay declared an interest as a member of the board of Londonderry Port.

Mr Cushnahan gave an opening statement about BHC's role in the Titanic Quarter leases and the agreement with Harland and Wolff for the development of the Titanic Quarter. They answered Members' questions on the matter.

Mr Bradley left the meeting at 4.40pm.

The meeting ended at 4.53pm.
