Explanatory Notes re Salaries and Allowances

Salaries

Basic Salaries

1. A Member’s basic salary in 2008-2009 was £43101.00 per annum.

2. Members who received a salary as an MP had their Members’ salaries reduced by two thirds. Members of the House of Lords did not receive a salary from the House of Lords so their Assembly salaries were not reduced.

Office Holders Allowance

3. The full range of Office holders’ allowances were paid from 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009.
