2. Role of Local Mortgage Lenders in the Current Economic Downturn: Evidence from Halifax, Abbey Group Financial Services and Nationwide

The Committee took evidence from the following witnesses: Jim McCooe, Head of Telephony Sales for Banking, Savings and Consumer Finance, Halifax; Ian Laing, Chief Credit Officer, Abbey Group Financial Services; Jay Colville, Area Director, Nationwide; and Ian Milligan, Senior Branch Manager, Nationwide. The session was recorded by Hansard.

Agreed: that the organisations will provide further information as requested by the Committee during the evidence session.

Mr McNarry left the meeting at 1.54 pm.

3. Role of the Local Banks in the Current Economic Downturn: Evidence from First Trust Bank, Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank

The Committee took evidence from the following witnesses: Joseph McGowan, Head of Retail Banking, First Trust; Damien Earley, Head of Corporate and Business Banking, First Trust; Michael Kidd, Head of Business, Bank of Ireland; Alan Bridle, Head of Economics and Research, Bank of Ireland; Mike Bamber, Chief Executive, Retail Markets, Ulster Bank; and Henry Elvin, Head of Business Banking, Ulster Bank. The session was recorded by Hansard.

Ms McCann left the meeting at 3.27 pm.
