COMMITTEE FOR THE ENVIRONMENTMEDIA OPERATIONAL NOTICEFOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLYCOMMITTEE TO QUESTION MINISTER OVER DEPARTMENT PERFORMANCEThe Assembly Committee for the Environment is holding a meeting at 10.00am on Thursday 18 November in the Senate, Parliament Buildings when it will receive an update from Edwin Poots, MLA Minister for the Environment on the Department’s performance. BackgroundThe Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for the Environment is concerned about issues it views as serious departmental failings, especially delays to departmental work force models and failure to implement primary legislation. In particular, the Committee is looking for answers on why legislation to regulate taxis and the licensing of goods vehicles has not been implemented, particularly as both pieces of legislation were scrutinised by the Committee some years ago. In addition, the Committee will also raise concerns over lack of information on the Department’s plans to redeploy Planning Service staff, the delay in introducing the electronic planning information system and the Department’s poor performance on public service agreements and its project evaluation programme.
