The Chairperson opened the meeting, in private, at 11:40am.

1. Chairperson's business

1.1. The Committee agreed to hold the meeting in private session.

1.2. The Clerk advised the Committee that, subject to Plenary business permitting, the meeting with the Minister and Departmental officials, to continue the discussion of the draft Position Report on the Budget 2002, would be rescheduled to 10:30am on Tuesday 23 April 2002.

1.3. Members agreed to advise the Clerk of their availability to attend the "R.E.Creation NI" event at 12:30pm in Parliament Buildings on Saturday 20 April 2002.

2. Minutes of the meeting of 11 April 2002

2.1. The draft Minutes of Proceedings of 11 April 2002 were agreed.

3. Matters arising

3.1. Para. 4.1. - The Committee agreed to forward a copy of the report on the visit by the Joint Committee for Tourism, Sport and Recreation to the Joint Committee and the Sports Council for Northern Ireland.

Mr Shannon attended the meeting at 12:14pm.

4. First formal reading of the Committee's report on Cultural Tourism and the Arts

4.1. The Committee began its first formal reading of the report on Cultural Tourism and the Arts and agreed a number of alterations.

4.2. The Committee agreed to ask the Northern Ireland Tourist Board how it selects the visitor attractions to include in its annual survey.

5. Date of next meeting

5.1. The next meeting of the Committee will take place at 10:15am on Thursday 18 April 2002 in Room 152.

The Chairperson brought the meeting to a close at 12:30pm.
