SENIOR SALARIES REVIEW BODY REPORT ON THE NORTHERN IRELAND ASSEMBLY

In anticipation of the restoration of the Assembly in May 2007, the then Secretary of State, the Right Honourable Peter Hain, MP, invited the Senior Salaries Review Body (SSRB) to consider a review of MLAs’ salaries and allowances.

In June 2007 the Assembly Commission formally engaged with the SSRB and agreed terms of reference for a review of Members’ pay, pensions and allowances.

The report from that Review was received by the Assembly Commission at its meeting on 2 December 2008. The Report makes a number of detailed and complex recommendations which the Assembly Commission will consider at its next meeting on 13 January 2009.
