1. The Speaker clarified that the Special Meeting of the Business Committee had been convened following the death of HRH The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, to discuss how the Assembly wished to express its condolences.

2. The Speaker advised that following Prayers at the Plenary Sitting on Monday 11 February the Assembly should adjourn for one hour as a mark of respect. This was then discussed.

3. The Speaker further advised that he would write to HM The Queen expressing condolences.

4. There was discussion on the issue of the flags and the Speaker said that the Union flag would be flown on Parliament Buildings in accordance with the Flags Order and any further guidance issued from Buckingham Palace.

5. The next meeting of the Business Committee was confirmed as Tuesday 12 February 2002, at 12.30 pm (or at the rise of the Assembly for lunch) in Room 106.

The meeting adjourned at 9.56 am.
