ALL PARTY ASSEMBLY GROUP ON ROAD SAFETY

The next business meeting of the All Party Assembly Group on Road Safety will take place on Tuesday, 11 March at 2pm in Room 144.

COMMONWEALTH DAY 2008, “The Environment – Our Future”

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association CPA (NI) Branch is sponsoring an event in Parliament Buildings to celebrate Commonwealth Day, on Monday 10 March 2008. A Youth Parliament will be held in the morning, followed by a reception, over lunch-time in the Long Gallery hosted by the Branch President. The theme of Commonwealth Day 2008 is “The Environment – Our Future”.

Pupils at AS level from four local schools (Ashfield Boys, St Joseph’s, Lagan College, Sullivan Upper) will take part in the Youth Parliament from 9.30 – 11.30am, debating two motions:-

The Youth Parliament will be chaired by Deputy Speaker McClarty.

The Speaker will host a reception in the Long Gallery from 12.30pm – 2.00pm, invited guests will include school children, Commonwealth Community Groups, and other Community based organisations, Honorary Consuls and Executive Ministers. Lunch will be provided. Mrs Arlene Foster MLA, Minister for the Environment and Mr Matthew Neuhaus Director of Political Affairs at the Commonwealth Secretariat will both give a short address.

All MLAs are invited to attend, however, for logistical purposes please contact Simon Kelly ( % 21374) or Judith Murdoch ( % 21195) if you are interested in attending.

NORTHERN IRELAND SEX OFFENDER AND STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Northern Ireland Sex Offender and Strategic Management Committee have asked to make a presentation to MLAs on the subject of sex offender risk assessment and management in Northern Ireland. The presentation will take place in the Long Gallery on Tuesday, 11 March 2008 at 5pm.

Arrangements as they currently operate will be explained and a recognised point of contact will be provided through which concerns can be raised and information sought as necessary.

All Members with an interest in this area are invited and encouraged to attend.
