The meeting opened at 1.35pm in Public Session .

2. Minutes of last meeting

The Committee agreed the Minutes of the last Committee meeting of 24 June 2008.

3. Matters arising
a) Correspondence Issued

The Committee noted the correspondence issued following the meeting of 24 June 2008.

b) Correspondence received

The Committee noted the correspondence received since the meeting of 24 June 2008.

4. Presentation – Committee Researcher – Wind Turbines

Committee Researcher, David Battye, joined the meeting at 1.45pm and presented to Committee on DARD’s Wind Energy for Rural Businesses Programme. Following the presentation, he answered questions from the Members.

The Committee Researcher left the meeting at 1.55pm.

5. Presentation – Draft All Island Animal Health and Welfare Strategy

Liz Redmond, Colette Conor and John Terrington, department officals joined the meeting at 1.55pm and made a presentation to Committee on the Draft All Island Animal Health and Welfare Strategy and then answered questions from the Members.

Tom Elliott left the meeting at 2.25pm.
The officials left the meeting at 2.27pm.

6. Pre-Consultation – Eggs and Chicks (No.2) Regulations (NI) 2008

Jill Garrett and Niall Heaney, Department officials, joined the meeting at 2.30pm and made a presentation on their plans to go to consultation on the above named legislation. The officials then answered questions from the Members. The Committee agreed that the consultation process should progress to the next stage.

William Irwin rejoined the meeting at 2.31pm.

7. Pre-Consultation– Beef and Veal Labelling Regulations (NI) 2008

Jill Garrett and Niall Heaney, Department officials made a presentation on their plans to go to consultation on the above named legislation. The officials then answered questions from the Members. The Committee agreed that the consultation process should progress to the next stage.

The officials left the meeting at 2.35pm.
The meeting moved into closed session at 2.35pm.
The meeting moved into public session at 2.46pm.

8. Pre-Consultation- Conservation of Scallop Regulations (NI) 2008

The above item was not covered as there were no witnesses to present to Committee.

9. Pre-Consultation - Foyle Area and Carlingford Area (Licensing of Fishing Engines) (Amendment) Regulation (NI) 2008
